Ogni Musica ha delle storie dietro di sè. Storie di vite di compositori, esecutori, trascrittori... Ogni progetto musicale sia esso un concerto o una registrazione ha dietro di sè una gran quantità di storie raramente raccontate. Con la serie di Newsletter "Le Storie dietro la Musica" vogliamo raccontarvele.

La Musica improvvisata

Ma la musica improvvisata esiste? E cosa significa improvvisare in Musica? Il termine ha spesso una connotazione negativa vicina ad "approssimazione", "fatto emergenziale", "ridursi all'utimo minuto" etc... In Musica il termine improvvisazione invece è legato ad un'arte tanto antica quanto la Musica stessa. Per secoli Improvvisazione e Composizione sono stati praticamente sinonimi fino al punto che si imparava a comporre esercitandosi nell'improvvisazione sui partimenti, ossia dei bassi che attraverso la loro armonizzazione fungevano da base per la composizione del brano, fosse esso un'aria vocale, una sonata, una danza o altro. Grandi compositori come Bach, Chopin, Liszt, Beethoven, Prokoviev, Schostakowich erano noti per le loro eccezionali doti di improvvisatori senza che ciò diminuisse di un grammo il loro peso come compositori, anzi! Nell'epoca della "registrazione" ovviamente l'improvvisazione ha dovuto trovare degli spazi nuovi. Ad una prima osservazione verrebbe da pensare che la possibilità di registrare la Musica mal si accorda con l'aura del Hic et Nunc dell'improvvisazione ma non è così! Pensiamo al jazz e a capolavori della discografia mondiale basati su registrazioni live "improvvisate", un esempio su tutti "The Koeln Concert" di Jarret. Nel video che potete vedere seguendo il tasto "Scopri di Più" sottostante potrete ascoltare dalla viva voce di un eccezionale pianista/compostore/ improvvisatore cosa significa improvvisare allo strumento e subito ascoltare alcuni estratti di un video registrato in un'unica presa, improvvisato dal prinicpio alla fine!

Improvised Music

But does improvised music exist? And what does it mean to improvise in Music? The term often has a negative connotation close to "approximation", "emergency fact", "reduce to the last minute" etc... In music, the term improvisation is linked to an art as ancient as music itself. For centuries improvisation and composition have been practically synonymous to the point that we learned to compose by practicing improvisation on partimenti: the bass which through its harmonisation served as a basis for the composition wich could be an aria, sonata, dance... On the written text then there is another degree of improvisation through the performer who added, modified, embellished, following defined rules and styles. Great composers such as Bach, Chopin, Liszt, Beethoven, Prokoviev, Schostakovich were known for their exceptional improvising skills. In the era of "recording" improvisation obviously had to find new spaces. At first glance, it would seem that the possibility of recording music is not in harmony with the "hic et nunc" aura of improvisation but it is not true! Let's think about jazz and masterpieces of the world discography based on live recordings "improvised", an example: "The Koeln Concert" by Jarret.
